description: The CERP database, the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) is an U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lead re-evaluation of the Central & Southern Florida Project that provides a framework and guide to restore, protect and preserve the water resources of central and southern Florida, including the Everglades. It covers 16 counties over an 18,000-square-mile area. It’s goal is to capture and redirect fresh water to areas where it is needed most. Scientific and technical evaluations and assessments, as well as data collection, are performed by a mutli-agency team of scientists, modelers, planners, and resource specialists under the Restoration Coordination and Verification (RECOVER) program. The CERP Regions were developed as a basis for all CERP related maps and analyses. This is to eliminate different versions of the same boundaries. All CERP Projects and Components belong to a CERP Region.
